Vector Conversion

Vector Conversion is the process whereby a raster image is converted into a vector image. In order to understand this more correctly, we will first have to understand what a raster image and what a vector image is. A raster image is made up of pixels which are small colored boxes. So in this image, lines and curved edges are constructed by proper alignment of the pixels i.e. placing the boxes in such a way next to each other that they make the desired shape.

They are very common in computers and most other devices such as digital cameras and televisions, etc. A vector image on the other hand is made by vector which are entities defined by a set of rules expressed as mathematical equations drawn between two points (also known as coordinates). They are not as common as raster image and are made by special software.

The most common file formats are eps, ai, cdr and they are popularly used in the .pdf format. You may be wondering why a raster image has to be converted into a vector image or vice versa. The answer is that for different drawing purposes, one is more useful than the other. Vector images are good for designing various logos, embroidery of various types of shirts (it depends on the material) and blankets, etc.

Raster Images are suitable for digital pictures and some types of embroidery. They are not as useful as vector ones for embroidery as they require more information.

For example, it has already been told that raster pictures are made from pixels which are colored boxes while vector pictures are made from vectors which are two points joined together by mathematical relations. So it is kind of obvious that vector image will be easier to reproduce on clothing and in any case will appear more prominent and clear. Vector ones can also be modified more easily because they contain specific mathematical instructions which can be easily changed while to modify a raster picture software such as Adobe Photoshop is needed.

A vector image can be converted more easily into a raster one than vice versa and they are also scalable which means they are rasterizable at any resolution. This is so because unlike rasterization, vectorization is not a process that is particularly well defined which means that there is not a single, well defined, correct method. The vector images are created by CAD programs, Corel Draw and Adobe Illustrator.

The vector image file type includes various formats like the DXF, DWG, DGN, HPGL, SVG, EMF, WMF and PDF; these formats can also contain raster ones. People all over advertising and other industries use these conversions for advertising and multiple purposes. The price charged for converting a raster image to a vector one is also very high and usually only professionals can do it. Most popular programs used to covert vector images are Adobe Illustrator, and Corel DRAW.

Vector artwork is mostly suitable for team logo, company Png Files logo, prints on sweatshirts, long sleeve shirts, Denim shirts, baseball caps, hats, jackets, bags, aprons, uniforms, blankets and etc. Vector images are also scalable and read just able at any resolution. Vector conversion has indeed not only created a new line of expertise and careers for people but it has also enhanced various methods which were time consuming and instead of sewing logos and prints of cloths it has all been computerized and modernized and time and energy has also been saved.
